About This Campaign Directory

Crime-prevention work is carried out by charities, police forces, governments, public bodies, victim organisations and community groups. Some entries below are formal public campaigns; others are national programmes or reporting services that directly support a campaign's prevention and reporting aims.

Campaign page only – neutral listing. Right First Time UK is listing these campaigns so people can see what organisations are asking the public, police, government and communities to do. Inclusion does not mean endorsement of every statement, policy, allegation or petition demand.
Emergency reporting: campaign websites are not a replacement for emergency services. If a crime is happening now or somebody is in immediate danger, call 999.

Public campaign / petition

Henry Nowak – Police Accountability & Transparency Campaigns

A major public campaign has developed following the murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton in December 2025 and concerns about the police response after officers arrived.

Vickrum Digwa was convicted of Henry's murder and possession of a bladed article and was sentenced in June 2026 to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years.

Important distinction between campaign claims and official findings: the Change.org petition asks for officers to be criminally charged and for the full IOPC findings to be published. Those are campaign demands, not findings that the officers have committed criminal offences.

Current official IOPC position

On 1 July 2026, the Independent Office for Police Conduct said two Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary officers are under investigation for potential gross misconduct.

The IOPC says the investigation includes potential failures relating to:

  • Recognising that Henry needed urgent medical attention
  • Acting after Henry said he had been stabbed and could not breathe
  • The decision to arrest and handcuff him rather than immediately provide first aid
  • Potential authority, respect and courtesy issues concerning one officer
  • Actions and decisions of police control-room staff

The IOPC also makes clear that gross-misconduct notices do not mean disciplinary proceedings will necessarily follow. That decision comes after the investigation.

Independent HMICFRS inspection

On 25 August 2026, the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner confirmed that an independent HMICFRS inspection had formally begun into the constabulary's response to serious violence.

The inspection will examine:

  • Control-room call handling and dispatch
  • Initial police attendance
  • Decision-making and risk assessment training
  • Impartial judgments and bias
  • When immediate action and first aid are required

The inspection does not determine the individual officers' conduct in the Henry Nowak incident; that remains the responsibility of the IOPC investigation.
