Right First Time UK is committed to operating fairly, responsibly and transparently.

We work in the public interest by providing information, campaigning on service failures and systemic problems, supporting public awareness, and helping people identify appropriate official or specialist routes when they need them.

Public trust matters. That is why we publish clear policies covering governance, safeguarding, privacy, finance, campaigning, digital systems, Volunteers, complaints and accountability.

What Our Policies Are Designed to Protect

  • children and adults at risk;
  • families and members of the public;
  • Volunteers, Campaigners and Campaign Leaders;
  • Public Members and subscribers;
  • donors, supporters and partners;
  • personal information and digital systems;
  • RFTUK funds and resources;
  • the independence and integrity of our campaigns;
  • public trust and organisational accountability.

Important: What RFTUK Is — and Is Not

RFTUK is an independent public-interest organisation. We are not a law firm, regulated legal-advice service, government body, police force, court, tribunal, regulator, emergency service or statutory safeguarding authority.

We provide general information, research, awareness material, campaign resources and signposting. Where specialist advice or urgent intervention is needed, people should use the appropriate regulated, official or emergency route.

RFTUK is not currently presented as a charity and does not claim Gift Aid or charitable-fund status unless its legal status changes and it becomes entitled to do so.

Our Political Independence

We work with people from across the political spectrum, but Right First Time UK does not campaign for political parties or candidates. Our campaigns are led by evidence and public interest.

How to Read These Figures

The gross figure is the total of recorded invoice costs; the net amount excludes VAT shown on those invoices. The VAT shown (£18.49) is not a claim that this VAT is reclaimable. The £0.00 VAT potential/confirmed and Corporation Tax review columns are current recorded review figures, not formal determinations of tax entitlement or liability.

Some costs relate to establishing the organisation and may have been incurred before incorporation or paid personally while the business account is pending. Inclusion here does not by itself establish that the company has paid or reimbursed them; the accounting treatment will be checked against supporting records.

As new invoices, income and financial records become available, we aim to update this section. This public summary does not replace company accounting records or statutory reporting.

Why These Policies Matter

Good governance is not only about having documents. It is about using clear rules when decisions are difficult, protecting people when risks arise, keeping accurate records, managing money responsibly, correcting mistakes and giving people a route to challenge us.

Our policies are standards against which our own conduct can be measured.

Our Promise

Fairness

We aim to treat people consistently and listen to evidence before reaching conclusions.

Transparency

We publish clear policies and explain our role, funding and organisational boundaries.

Accountability

We accept that RFTUK can be challenged, complained about and asked to correct mistakes.

Safeguarding

Safety comes before publicity, campaigning or organisational convenience.

Independence

No donor, sponsor, partner or political organisation can buy RFTUK's findings or conclusions.

Public Protection

Our information, systems and decisions should be designed to reduce avoidable harm rather than create it.
